Churchill High School
We would like all of our students to enjoy the 360-degree experience while attending Churchill. We do this by providing a welcoming atmosphere where students can explore and participate in meaningful enriching extra-curricular activities in addition to challenging coursework.
 
With well over 60 clubs and organizations, Churchill offers students and their parents many opportunities to enjoy our community and its diverse interests.

Academic

ACE CLUB

The purpose of this club is to give the students enrolled in engineering the opportunity to draw and construct projects after school. To be eligible for membership, candidates must be enrolled in the engineering class at Churchill High School. They must have gone through a safety demonstration of tools and machines and passed all the necessary safety tests. Members can be terminated at any time if they violate the hazing policy set forth by Churchill High School. academic

JROTC – CORPS OF CADETS

The Churchill JROTC program was established in 1968. It is an educational program whose mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens. JROTC is a 4-year program that helps cadets develop a sense of responsibility, leadership, citizenship, patriotism, and character traits they will use for a lifetime. The JROTC program offers several extracurricular activities and community service opportunities for cadets.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

The National Honor Society is the premier honor society for high school students, based on the four pillar of leadership, character, scholarship, and service. Juniors and seniors whose GPA is 90 or above (unweighted) are invited to submit an application for consideration for admission. The Ceremony of Induction into the National Honor Society is held annually in the fall.

UIL MATH

Math UIL is a club that allows students to demonstrate their mathematical abilities through various competitions against other schools in Texas. There are three different tests that students can display varying mathematical skills in which they participate in. Looks great on a resume and helps refine mathematical skills. UIL READY WRITING

UIL SCIENCE

Science UIL is an academic competition designed to challenge high school students to do a wide range of reading in biology, chemistry, and physics, to gain an understanding of the basic principles as well as knowledge of the history and philosophy of science, and to foster a sense of enthusiasm about science and how it affects our daily lives. Students participating in the UIL Current Events contest are required to demonstrate their understanding of these events through multiple-choice questions, essays, and sometimes analysis of issues. Art Club is open to all students who attend Churchill High School, with or without an art class in their schedules. NAHS officers run the Art Club events which range from t-shirt making, pumpkin decoration to events in the community and around campus. The Charger Band has a rich history of success and excellence. This ensemble is a continuation from middle school through high school band and a full year course. A branch of this program is the jazz ensemble which is made of current band students. ORCHESTRA

The Churchill Orchestra is an award-winning performance group. The orchestra is 200 members strong and consists of seven performance groups. In past years the orchestra has won numerous Sweepstakes and Outstanding Performance awards at U.I.L. Concert and Sightreading. Every year the orchestra performs Tschaikowsky’s Peter and the Wolf for local elementary school students as well as special performances for Title One elementary schools in the Texas Hill Country

PEP SQUAD- GAELAN

Pep Squad is a beginning-level dance team that is open to all grades and has no tryout process. Pep Squad focuses on beginning dance techniques and will learn styles like Pom, Jazz, Military, and Hip Hop. They compete at two competitions in the spring. Military and non-military families often move and find this transition to be a challenge. Student 2 Student was formed to assist new students get acclimated to Winston Churchill HS, encourage them to get involved and help them connect with potential friends. S2S is also a great place to make friends and try new things! We look for ways to connect with cluster campuses and serve our community. S2S Ambassadors develop leadership skills and show new students what being a Charger is all about.

The purpose of the Winners Circle at Churchill High School is to identify, support, and reward students who are willing to commit to a chemical-free lifestyle. The Winners Circle promotes positive decisions in all aspects of a student’s life but emphasizes particularly the prevention and intervention of drug use. Through education and role modeling to peers as well as to younger students at other schools in the Churchill cluster, the Winners Circle promotes and endorses chemical-free choices

PARLIAMENT (STUDENT COUNCIL)

Parliament is Churchill's student council. Members make up an elected group of current 10th, 11th, and 12th graders that represent the student body and strive to promote a positive and safe environment for WC by bringing students, faculty, and community together. These hard working students launch many projects in an effort to support the WC community on and off campus. Homecoming is planned and executed completely by the members to create one of the largest events of the year.

Sport

CHEER

Competitive Cheer teams who compete at the national level. They attend Freshman, JV and Varsity football games, as well as some volleyball, basketball, baseball and soccer. Tryouts are in the spring each year. The cheer program consists of three teams, Freshman squad (open to only 9th graders), Junior Varsity (open to 10th – 12th graders), and Varsity (open to 10th – 12th graders).
